Sigma 85mm art unboxing by IsaacImage Toronto Wedding photographer

Sigma 85mm art unboxing by IsaacImage Toronto Wedding photographer

Hello dear friends and welcome to my blog.

We were waiting impatiently for this announcement and it’s finally here.

After great success of Sigma’s prime lenses such a 35mm f1.4 Art and an amazing 50mm F1.4 Art everyone was waiting for the one of the most popular focal lengths for the portraiture – 85mm – and finally it’s here.

The main competitor for this lens is one of the Canon’s top legendary Lenses – Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Lens but Sigma aiming even higher than this – to Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 Apo Planar T*.

Huge thanks to one of the best sales representatives Jamie from Henry’s camera store Toronto downtown location, who did an amazing job and helped us a lot to be one of the first Toronto Wedding Studios who can enjoy and test this an amazing lens.

The blog will be updated constantly with new images from this lens, but for now please enjoy the unboxing.

Canon EOS 5d mark iv Wedding Roman and Leanna

We had a huge pleasure capturing the very beautiful and unique wedding of Roman and Leanna.

The reception hall was quite unique as it was basically a huge barn that had been converted from a garage with very rare, vintage collectable cars, to an amazing wedding reception hall, thanks to their great family friend Bill.

The gorgeous decor details were the creation of our couple Roman and Leanna exclusively (I think Leanna’s part was more significant, but I’m sure Roman helped her emotionally so it counts as well ;))

Guys decided to go golfing early morning that day, at Victoria Park Valley Golf Club.

The girls got ready at the house close to the Wedding reception.

Thanks to all great Wedding professionals who was part of this “Big Day” success:
Bridal dress – Best for Bride Etobicoke
Great bridal make Up by – Kati Atkinson.
The whole wedding day we shot with the Canon 5d Mark 4.
It’s a new Canon professional flagship DSLR camera, a dream for any Wedding and Event professional photographer.

Huge thanks to Adobe, as they released the RAW camera support yesterday for Lightroom CC and DNG converter, so the whole set was edited in Lightroom CC without hassling with the Canon DPP software.

As for the lenses that I used , it’s my normal Wedding set up:

1 – Canon ultra wide ef 16-35mm f/2.8l ii usm

2 – Canon top Macro lens – 100mm L IS macro f 2.8 (ring shots, details, shoes etc)

3 – Some portraits and candid’s shot with :

Canon 50mm L f1.2

Canon 85mm 1.2 ii

Canon 70-200 f2.8 is usm ii

4 – and of course our bread and butter lenses –

canon 35mm 1.4 ii

and

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens

BTW

Did I mention it was raining the whole day ? 😉

All equipment worked as it should without any problems !

Also, as a new technological thing, for the first time we used our huge 45 inch Digital Photo Frame to display images that were captured earlier that day.

Ohh you can check here  Roman and Leanna’s engagement session as well, in case you missed it 😉

So please enjoy.

Canon EOS 1DX Mark II Wedding Studio Toronto

Canon EOS 1DX Mark II Wedding Studio Toronto
We are glad to be the first Wedding photography studio in the Toronto area, who received a production model of the top of the line camera – Canon EOS 1dx mark II.
After almost 4 years of extensive usage of two of my Canon 1dx’s and with an about 800.ooo shutter clicks, I think I’m getting closer to a better understanding of these cameras.
I use the equipment mostly to shoot Weddings, Boudoir and Bar Mitzvah’s in the Greater Toronto Area.
In the past I’ve had experience shooting with almost any possible DSLR on the market; from Original Canon 5D and Nikon D700, to the latest Nikon d750, D4s and of course, the industry standard, Canon 5D mark III or Nikon D800/D810.

I wanted to mention that I’m not sponsored by anyone, and all of the information in this blog is my personal opinion based on my research and experience. Hope this information will help you choose the right tool for the right job.
But I would love to take a moment and thank Canon Canada and an amazing team from Vistek Mississauga (especially Lan Huynh) for helping me get my hands on this great camera as fast as possible.
I have to mention that this is not a review of the Canon Mark II as I haven’t gotten a chance to put it through a few rigorous weeks of the beginning of the Wedding season I’m about to embark on.

So here we go, please enjoy the video below and I would be happy to answer any of your questions, dear friends.
It’s a Canon’s flagship model within their professional DSLR line-up.
Some of you might think that this is a bit of an overkill for a Wedding photographer but in my personal opinion, in this very competitive market you have to give the best of what you can to your clients.Canon 1dx mark 2

photography tips slow shutter speed technique

Photography tips slow shutter speed technique

Doesn’t really matter what type of photography you are doing a landscape, photojournalism , wedding photography , architecture etc.

The same “slow shutter speed technique” apples on any photographic genres.

Don’t worry too much if you don’t have any tripod with you and your lens without any image stabilizer (IS on Canon) or Vibration Reduction (VR on Nikon).

Most of the new DSLR’s or mirrorless cameras on the market, already has pretty good high ISO performance, but don’t rush to crank up ISO settings, sometimes if it’s static object as a landscape or buildings you can simply lower your ISO setting and slower the shutter speed.

For example, if you have your camera set in manual mode with 2500 ISO | aperture f4 | shutter 1/250 you can lower the ISO level and compensate it with lowering shutter speed as well, so the exposure level will be the same.

Please remember as longer the lens as harder to keep it steady.

In this shot I used Nikon latest D750 DSLR with an amazing wide angle lens Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8

After a few seconds of practising I decided to push a little bit the limits and set the camera on ISO 100 | f2.8 | 1.0 shutter 😉 (yes it’s 1 second)

After an about an 5 shots I finally nailed it and here is the result.

Nikon d750 slow shutter test

Just to make sure I’m not the steadiest person on earth 😉

It’s funny, but most of the time my wife much steadier than me in this regards.

Another example is less extreme in terms of shutter speed.

Camera settings were ISO 800 | f2.8 | 1/10

on Nikon D810 and Nikkor 14-24mm lens

The same Mississauga Convention Centre – I simply love this building, and there is a lot of Weddings we had here last year.

Camera settings ISO 64 | f2.8 | 1/30

Nikon D810 + 14-24mm wide angle lens

same camera settings ISO 64 | f2.8 | 1/30

Amazing church ceiling at the same Greek Orthodox Church , I can look at it for an hour.

Greek Orthodox Church Mississauga

Nikon D810 great camera in this regards. The shutter lag is very short and the mirror vibration is very well controlled, so you can go very slow with your shutter speed, and the lowest basic ISO goes to a 64 and the Dynamic Range at the ISO 64 is just incredible.

Anyway, you can apply the same technique for any camera that you are using.

So let’s get started :

1 – Set your camera to manual

2 – Adjust your settings according to exposure

3 – Compose

4 – Make yourself into a comfortable position

5 – Relax

6 – Breathe in and out slowly. My release usually takes place half way into the exhale.

7 – Take a picture

This technique works for me and hopefully will work for you as well.

Always remember “Practice makes perfect”!

Enjoy
